MEMORANDUM
TO: Local Planning Agency
FROM: Bill Spikowski and Carol Cunningham
DATE: September 10, 1996
SUBJECT: Your September 17th Meeting
For our meeting on September 17, we are forwarding the attached re-draft of the
proposed work program. You reviewed a previous version on September 3 (it had been
printed on blue paper). The most substantial changes from the previous version are:
- A revision to the overall schedule we had proposed, with a new goal of having a
complete draft of a comprehensive plan by the end of the next fiscal year
(September 30, 1997). Public hearings to consider revisions to the draft and to
actually adopt the plan would begin some time in the fall of 1997 and would continue
into early 1998.
- A prioritization within each element identifying the most important issues for your
attention during the coming twelve months. These issues are listed as "special issues
to be addressed through additional background work and analysis of policy
implications." The lower-priority issues follow in a separate paragraph. (The
lower-priority issues will still be addressed, but in a more cursory fashion directed at
beginning to focus the Town's position and identifying what steps should be taken in
the coming years to more fully develop an appropriate program.)
During this meeting we would like to get any feedback you may have on either of these
changes, or on any other matter contained in the work program. For instance, have we
misjudged certain issues in our preliminary effort to set priorities?
Also on September 17 we need to identify which regulatory issues you plan to take up on
September 24, so that we can be properly prepared to assist you in identifying alternatives.
